This Privacy Policy explains how TiltFish collects, uses, shares, and retains information when you use the TiltFish website and chess-training features. TiltFish is not intended for children under 13.
Information we collect
Information you provide. If you create an account, our authentication provider receives your email address, authentication credentials, and account identifiers. You may also provide a username, display name, avatar choice, biography, public-statistics preference, and Chess.com or Lichess username.
Game and account data. TiltFish may store saved games, positions, moves, move classifications, analysis results, ratings, progress, daily-challenge results, multiplayer records, friend requests, blocks, and abuse reports associated with your account. A public username, profile information, and rating/progress may be visible to other users when you enable public statistics. Public information can also be copied or cached by others.
Imported game data. When you request an import, TiltFish retrieves public game history from Chess.com or Lichess using the username you enter. Imported games and reports are stored in your account and are not used to access private games. The third-party service’s own privacy policy also applies to its processing.
Browser and technical data. Anonymous games, settings, local statistics, game history, consent choice, and other preferences are stored in your browser. The server receives a browser session identifier and request information, including IP address, timestamps, paths, user-agent information, and rate-limit/security data. TiltFish also records limited product events, such as feature usage and error or performance details; event properties are limited and should not contain your game account credentials.
How we use information
We use information to provide and secure TiltFish; save and restore games; calculate ratings and progress; enable profiles, friends, blocks, reports, and multiplayer; import and analyze game history at your request; troubleshoot, measure, and improve the service; prevent abuse and enforce these Terms; and comply with legal obligations. Anonymous server sessions are temporary and expire after inactivity.
Advertising and cookies
TiltFish loads Google advertising code only after you choose “Allow” in the ad-privacy prompt. Google and its advertising partners may then use cookies or similar technologies and process device, browser, IP-address, visit, and ad-interaction information to deliver, measure, and personalize ads under their own policies. You can decline advertising without losing gameplay and can change your choice through Ad privacy in the footer. If you are in a region requiring a legally compliant consent mechanism, advertising must be configured with the applicable Google-certified consent settings before ads are served.
Sharing and service providers
We share information with providers that help operate TiltFish, including hosting, authentication/database, security/operational logging, and—only after the applicable advertising choice—Google advertising services. We disclose information when necessary to comply with law, protect TiltFish or users, investigate abuse, or complete a business transfer. We do not sell account data.
Retention and deletion
Account data and saved games are retained while your account is active, unless you delete or archive them. Imported histories remain until you remove the account or the relevant data is otherwise deleted. Reports and related records may be retained as needed for safety, dispute handling, and legal obligations. Temporary anonymous sessions, event records, and server logs are retained only for limited operational, security, and service-improvement purposes according to the hosting configuration and applicable law.
Use the profile page to download the currently available profile and saved-game export, change public-statistics visibility, or permanently delete your account. Account deletion removes the authentication account and account-linked records through the configured database cascade, subject to backups, legal retention, and safety records. The in-app export may not include every operational log, event record, backup, or imported-history detail. Clear site data in your browser to remove local anonymous history, settings, and consent choices.
Your choices and rights
You may access and correct profile information, make eligible profile statistics public or private, withdraw advertising consent, export available account data, and request deletion. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to restrict or object to processing, request portability, or complain to a data-protection authority. Contact us first so we can verify the request and respond under applicable law.
Security and changes
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards, but no online service or transmission is completely secure. We may update this policy as TiltFish changes. The updated date above identifies the current version; material changes will be posted on this page.
